Unit 9: A FIRST – AID COURSE
Period 55: Getting started + Listen and read
I. Objectives: Through this period, ps can know what they should do in the situations which require first - aid.
II. Language contents:
1. Grammar: Simple future tense.
2. Vocabulary: emergency (n), sterile dressing, medicated oil, alcohol (n), bleed (v), ambulance (n), wound (n)
III. Techniques: pair work
IV. Teaching aids: Cassette, textbook, pictures,..
V. Procedure: Communicative Approach

( Warm up:
- T: Explains 4 situations in book (part: getting started)
- Ps: Look at the picture on page 80 and speak what they would do in four situations. (groupwork).
a. a girl has a burn on her arm: ( I’ll use cold water to ease the pain and then take her to the nearest hospital.
b. a boy has a bad cut on his leg: ( I’ll wash the cut with bactericide, then I’ll bandage the cut to stanch it.
c. a girl has a nose bleed: ( I’ll leave her lying flat and stuff her nose with cotton wool to stop the bleeding.
d. a boy has a bee sting: ( I’ll apply time to the area around the sting to stop the sting from being swollen.
- T: Guides and corrects.
( Presentation:
- T: Explains new words.
- Ps: Listen, practise pronouncing and copy down.
* Checking: (slap the board)
1. Vocabulary:
emergency (n), sterile dressing, medicated oil, alcohol (n), bleed (v), ambulance (n), wound (n)
- hold it tight ( hold/ keep + O + adj
- I’ll keep her awake.
( S + will/ shall + infinitive (simple future)
( Pratice:
- Ps play the roles to pratise the dial.
- T: Corrects their pronunciation.
( Consolidation:
- Ps: Read the dial again and select the topics covered in the dial. (groups).
- T: Corrects.
* Keys:
a. describring the condition of the injured person.
b. asking for the address.
c. asking about the condition of the injured person.
e. giving first aid instruction.
f. arranging for an ambulace.
( Homework:
- Learn new words by heart.
- Prepare: U9: Speak + Listen.

I. Objectives: Through this period, ps can make and respond to requests, offers and promises. Ps know how to listen details
II. Language contents:
1. Grammar: Modal will make requests, offers and promises.
2. Vocabulary: Eye chart (n), wheelchair (n), stretcher (n), crutch ( crutches (n), scale (n), paradermic (n): hộ lý.
III. Techniques: pairwork, groupwork
IV. Teaching aids: pictures in textbook,……...
V. Procedure: Communicative Approach
( Warm up:
* Revision:
- Draw the network with an example on the board and use it as a game.
- Deliver posters to students and ask them to write as many words as possible on their posters.
- Ask ps to stick their posters on the board after they finish.
- Tell them the group to have most right words is the winner.
* First – aid coures:
- have a snake bite
- have a nose bleed.
- have a burn
- have a cut
- have a bee sting
